FEBRUARY 6, 2014 [Bolus, Glycogen] The Value of Knowing Your T1 Baseline
Doing this allows my heart to become more efficient and it teaches my body how to conserve glycogen stores within the muscles and vital organs. To test if my current basal rates are accurate, I ate dinner at 5:30 PM and took a full bolus for the 50 grams of carbs I ate.

Also, people who manage with multiple daily injections (MDIs) have to take two types of insulin, a short-acting bolus insulin (Humalog, Novolog or Apidra) for their meals as well as a long-acting basal insulin (Levemir or Lantus). It’s a bolus issue.

I bolused for about half the carbs, planning to keep her pump on while she was out of the water, yet anticipating more swimming without the pump later. That soda, after all, was the bulk of her bolus. Stinkin' depleted liver glycogen stores. After crawling over 200, a bolus that turned out to be too hefty in an attempt to prevent a massive spike, and chasing insulin for another couple hours.she has now settled, once again, at 135 with ZERO active insulin on board (IOB).

MAY 7, 2011 [Bolus, Glycogen] The Hill and the BG Spike
After my run, I ate some cottage cheese and didn't bolus. It must be the excess glycogen from the high intensity. So after I took this picture, you can see I had just given myself a bolus. It was an aggressive rage bolus, I won't lie. Tonight I went for a different run.

DECEMBER 22, 2010 [Bolus, Glycogen] Reversing Hypo unawareness
F or a sever low, the best treatment is a Glucagon , a hormone made by the alpha cells in the pancreas, and it rapidly raises the blood sugar by triggering a release of glucose from glycogen stores in the liver. I test at least once an hour, watch what I eat, keep my carbs (and boluses) low to avoid mistakes, and watch trends like a hawk.
CANADIAN D-GAL [Bolus, Glycogen] Post Exercise Findings
| FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2010
From what Ive read and learned is that exercise causes your liver to release glycogen
which is stored glucose. Ive found that when I stop, that glycogen
that is released hangs around. If I have carbs and try to bolus
correctly it doesnt matter what I do, I always skyrocket. The following morning however, is when my body is ready to tolerate carbs and it seems to be when it needs it most and I can bolus
a little less for breakfast. MORE >>
CANADIAN D-GAL [Bolus, Glycogen] A Reminder. D is an evil disease.

I had some brown rice with no bolus
. I injected 3 units of insulin for the chocolate that I estimated to be 30g carbs plus I had some rice I didn’t bolus
for. The only thing I can think of is my liver stores were devoid of glycogen
. I was so exhausted I was falling asleep with my eyes open and it was only 9:30pm. It was an early night. I took a Gravol not because I was feeling sick but to ensure a deep sleep that I really needed. MORE >>
CANADIAN D-GAL [Bolus, Glycogen] Very Carefully, Tha'ts How.
| FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2012
I immediately set a temp at 200% for 3 hous and at the same time bolused
2 units. I question if the food would sustain the exercise and maybe I won't dump so much glycogen
and end up with those evil post exercise highs? One of the questions I get asked the most from non diabetics with regards to exercise is, "How do you do it?" My first response is always, "Very carefully." Which I then follow up with, "Trial and error." MORE >>

I also have to be fairly aggressive with bolusing
right after or even a little before I finish a workout like this. I think my body is still churning out the juice (aka glycogen
) and doesnt realize Ive stopped! skip to main | skip to sidebar Annetics antics, musings, and observations of a 30-something woman living in Northern California, one of the most beautiful places on the planet. | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2010
They postulate that leptin mediates this effect by suppressing glucagon and therefore glucose production via glycogen
