NOVEMBER 5, 2013 [Glucagon, Glycogen] A User-Friendly Glucagon Kit?
The glucagon kit could be as medically necessary during a bout of severe hypoglycemia as the defibrillator for cardiac arrest, yet many smart people with diabetes don’t own one. It offers a room temperature-stable “ready to inject” glucagon for severe hypoglycemia.

JANUARY 6, 2014 [Glucagon, Glycogen] Ask Joslin: Glucagon
What is glucagon and do I need to take it? However, keeping your blood glucose in the target range is a function of two hormones: insulin and glucagon. Glucagon which is secreted by the alpha cells in the pancreas has the opposite role. Ask Joslin glucagon

AUGUST 26, 2016 [Glucagon, Glycogen] How Stress Hormones Raise Blood Sugar
As you may be aware, the liver serves as a storehouse for glucose, keeping it in a concentrated form called glycogen. The liver breaks down small amounts of glycogen all the time, releasing glucose into the bloodstream to nourish the brain, nerves, heart and other “always active” organs.

JOSLIN DIABETES CENTER [Glucagon, Glycogen] Exercise in People with Type 1 Diabetes
| MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2014
So in people without diabetes, glucagon
is activated and causes the liver and muscles to breakdown glycogen
in a process called glucogenolysis. Exercise is a recommended part of treatment for people with diabetes. But it needs to be done safely. Exercise is recommended for everyone with diabetes. In people with type 1 diabetes exercise provides many benefits—improved cardiovascular health, a psychological lift, stronger bones, stronger muscles and more restful sleep. MORE >>
JOSLIN DIABETES CENTER [Glucagon, Glycogen] How to Fast Safely When You Have Diabetes
| FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2012
Simultaneously, levels of glucagon
and epinephrine rise, which releases glucose from liver glycogen
. If fasting continues beyond a few hours, glycogen
stores become depleted and fatty acids are released from the fat cells to be oxidized into ketones. In patients with type 2 diabetes alternations in insulin and glucagon
response are not as dramatic and the development of ketoacidosis is not usually a concern. Many religions involve some element of fasting. MORE >>
CANADIAN D-GAL [Glucagon, Glycogen] A Reminder. D is an evil disease.
| WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2013
The only thing I can think of is my liver stores were devoid of glycogen
. I was so exhausted I was falling asleep with my eyes open and it was only 9:30pm. It was an early night. I took a Gravol not because I was feeling sick but to ensure a deep sleep that I really needed. Yeah that’s right, I abuse over the counter anti-nausea meds. Doesn’t everybody? Not long after, my body tried as hard as it could to alert me to danger. I felt like I awoke from a lightening strike. MORE >>
ANNETICS [Glucagon, Glycogen] A Role for Leptin in Type 1 Diabetes?
| WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2010
They postulate that leptin mediates this effect by suppressing glucagon
and therefore glucose production via glycogen
breakdown in the liver. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Google Buzz Labels: "type 1 diabetes" , glucagon
